Leslie Apking (member, Healing Touch Professional Association) Healing Touch is an energy healing therapy. The goal of Healing Touch is to support the body's natural self-healing process by restoring harmony and balance to your energy system.

In every human being, energy field disruption is believed to be present before it manifests as a disease process (Oschman, 2000). Disturbance in the energy field can be related to a current illness, history of unresolved trauma, or unexpressed/unprocessed emotional, mental, and spiritual experiences.

Our bodies are constantly bombarded with stress and emotions—but we are often not even conscious of our accumulated, stagnant. and unreleased negative energy. If not properly cleared, over time this negative energy can cause our nervous system to become dysregulated—and put our body into a state of “dis-ease.”

Leslie facilitates a state of deep relaxation during a Healing Touch session by using light or near-body touch. Specific intentions for healing are identified at the beginning of each session—although energy has its own wisdom and goes where needed!

Healing Touch is the only Energy Medicine modality that is fully accredited and endorsed—by the American Holistic Nurses Association, the Canadian Holistic Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Healing Touch is currently taught or practiced in 34 countries.

Leslie is passionate about helping her clients alleviate the burdens of stress and pain—particularly those suffering from chronic conditions, such as cancer and autoimmune disorders. Leslie first learned about Healing Touch Energy Medicine during her treatments for breast cancer in 2015-2016. Months of chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, tissue expansion, and an extreme reaction to radiation treatments gifted Leslie with a newfound empathy for anyone experiencing chronic pain. Divine timing led Leslie to a Healing Touch practitioner and regular therapy.

Leslie was amazed at how quickly her skin began to heal, her pain levels and anxiety decreased, and her mood lightened. She was hooked—and started the Healing Touch Practitioner Level 1 training program in 2016. The title of Healing Touch Practitioner is awarded after completing 5 levels—each successive level encompasses increasing knowledge of theory, energetic understanding, and practice.

Leslie is so happy to be practicing at Gypsy Hands Healing Arts Center. Leslie first met Sara over 20 years ago—and even danced with Sara in the Gypsy Hands Tribal Belly Dance Troupe at Bonnaroo! Leslie feels so incredibly fortunate to be able to work with clients in such a sacred space.

Leslie has practiced Healing Touch for the past seven years. She worked previously in the corporate world—in advertising, media buying strategy/sales, corporate partnership direction, and market research analysis. Leslie is married to Jay Apking, a writer and private Pilates equipment trainer. Her favorite thing in the world is spending time with her family, including her daughter Anna (15) and “adult” son Elijah (25). Leslie loves live music, time with friends, being in nature, meditation, infrared sauna therapy, learning about healing modalities—and all-things energy related!
